What we do

Bernard de Launoit Prizes

Reflecting the passions of Bernard de Launoit, the Foundation will award four prizes highlighting the values of self-surpassing, ambition, creativity, and commitment..

To best showcase the four disciplines and avoid confusion, it was decided to award two prizes each year in alternating cycles.

March 2025

In March 2025, the Bernard de Launoit Prize for Cinema and the Bernard de Launoit Prize for Mountain-Adventure will be awarded.

2026

In 2026, the prizes for Classical Music and Visual Arts will be awarded.

Bernard de Launoit Prize
Mountain & Adventure

The Bernard de Launoit Prize for Mountain and Adventure encourages those who wish to fulfill their dreams of mountain expeditions, journeys, and adventures in hostile and/or atypical environments. What some may call the « quest for the useless » often reveals an intense personal journey where one surpasses their own limits to achieve a deep connection with oneself. Originality, firsts, and self- surpassing will be important criteria for receiving this prize.

Bernard de Launoit Prize
Cinema

The Bernard de Launoit Prize for Cinema supports Belgian or international film initiatives in the fields of fiction or documentary. Covering several categories, the Cinema Prize can support anything from a first original production to a film project on music, adventure, or art, or a work focused on youth and culture. The prize will always aim to support original and ambitious film productions.

Bernard de Launoit Prize
Visual Arts

The Bernard de Launoit Prize for Visual Arts is intended to support and stimulate young artists’ projects, whether it be for the creation of specific original works or the design and execution of new exhibition projects. Special emphasis will be placed on projects with significant impact and the ambition to transcend artistic boundaries, with a lasting cultural influence.

Bernard de Launoit Prize
Classical Music

The Bernard de Launoit Prize for Classical Music aims to celebrate and reward a dynamic and visionary approach that encourages pushing the boundaries of musical ambitions. This prize is open to any outstanding project proposed by young artists from all disciplines, with a special connection to the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, a breeding ground for young talent.
